what has surprised me is the level of energy and enthusiasm that remains. these are employees that have not had a pay raise in four years, suffered to the government shut down, then having endured criticism over the last eight to ten months. you would expect that what i would hear would be a lot of mumbling are complaining. but as i heard continually across those ten cities have been to already, the employees primary concern is they don't have enough people. for them in the offices to help taxpayers. i have sat in call centers and baltimore, st. louis. their concern is not that they are overworked concerned that there are not as many people as they used to be answering phone calls. therefore they don't feel they are delivering taxpayers the services they deserve. people at the taxpayer assistance centers are also concerned about the people standing in line. to me it is a refreshing indication of the dedication of the 90,000 employees working for the irs. the mission of the agency to provide taxpayers the services they deserve and expect them to comply with
